You are Part of God's Priesthood

1 Peter 2:4-5
You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

Jesus is our cornerstone, he set the foundation for the church, but we have the honor to be the wall. For a stone to be effective it must find its place. A stone that has found its place provides protection and shelter. Once you find your place in the wall, you are not just part of the church, you are a holy priest. Part of finding your place and being a kingdom priest is helping mediate between God and the world, being kind, loving, and helping people find God.

Activation – Make a Difference

Luke 9:23
[Jesus said,] “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

We have already asked God what we need to stop this year - today, take 5 minutes and ask the Father to show you what to start, what His will is for following Him this year.

  1. What do I need to start?

Follow that by asking the Lord what He would have you do different? Simply ask…

  2. What do I need to do different?

Let the Lord direct your steps into this new year as a living stone, and when you follow Jesus you will find the greatest joy, happiness, energy, and fulfillment because you will be doing what you were made to do and called to do by God.

Step Into Being a Living Stone

1 Peter 2:4-5
You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple.

We live in a season of being new stone on a 40-year foundation of stones that have helped build the foundation of Trinity Fellowship Church! It is our turn to take our place on the wall and enter into our responsibility and invest in the future. This is an opportunity year - for us and for future generations to build on.

Activation – Saying no

Luke 9:23
[Jesus said,] “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”

To follow Jesus, we must learn to say “no” to some things in our life. We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results. So, the first question to ask the Lord about this year is what you need to say no to - be it a hobby, where your time is going, where your families time is going, what your children are involved in, or even the number of things the kids are involved in.

Take the next five minutes and ask the Lord what he wants you to stop.

Consuming God’s Word Matures Us

1 Peter 2:1-3
So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

Remember, Spiritual is the word logikós (from lógos  - God’s reason or intelligence expressed in human speech). We need to consume the Word of God, because it changes us, strengthens us, and provides us with what we need to stand firm.

Activation – Give up our own way

Luke 9:23
[Jesus said,] “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”

God’s Word is Scripture, it is Jesus, and it is His words spoken to us through Holy Spirit.

Commit a minute each day to simply submit your will to God and ask what His will is for you today. Start with today. Then do it 3 days in a row. At the beginning of next week, try for all 5 working days of the week. Then the following week shoot for all 7 days. Look for that still-small-moment of time when you first wake up, when the kids are napping, when you first sit down behind your desk, before you do anything else ask…

Father I submit my will for this day to You - show me Your will for me today….

And close in thanksgiving…

Father, thank You for desiring my good and communicating with me. Thank You for who You are. Lead me today as I commit today to You and give me ears to hear Your voice as I tune into You today.
